Fish Bonz fishing season starts around mid-May and continues into the fall; sometimes up to Thanksgiving, depending on the weather.
The following is a summary of which species of fish you are likely to catch during the different times of the season.
| May |
Around the middle of this month we start seeing bluefish near the coast and many shark species will follow….mako, blue shark, thresher, dusky. |
| June |
Shark fishing is good through this month. Bluefin tuna can be caught near coastal waters and yellowfin tuna will show up at the offshore waters and the canyons. |
| July |
This month is normally when the fishing really gets going with tuna, dolphin and marlin showing up in good numbers. |
| August |
Marlin fishing is getting better this month. Dolphin and tuna catches are good with an occasional wahoo. |
| September |
Marlin fishing is good. Tuna and dolphin fishing is great and this is the best month for wahoo. |
| October |
Marlin start returning to the southern waters. Tuna fishing gets better again with water temperatures dropping. A few dolphin and occasional wahoo are present. Wreck fishing for croakers, taug and seabass is good. |
| November |
Bottom fishing the wrecks is good right now for croakers, taug, seabass, and sheepshead. Good catches of tuna are still to be found offshore near the canyons. |
